Your First Lesson:

Introduction to Call to Action (CTA) Buttons

The first step in moving a casual website visitor – someone reading your blog for instance - towards an exchange of personal information, is getting them to click on a call to action button or CTA. This graphical mini-advertisement must do three things in order get a prospect to “click”.

  • It must communicate the value of clicking: something like “get free tips and tricks” or “5 things you need to know”.
  • Your CTA must be clear about what clicking will deliver: a white paper, a free webinar, video training etc.
  • It must clearly identify an action the visitor should take: Usually something like “click here” or “download now”.

Once clicked, the visitor is directed to a landing page where they can exchange their personal information for the value you have promised them.
